Previous govts only worked on electricity production, not on transmission system: Shibli

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – After gradual restoration of power supply, Minister for Information Senator Shibli Faraz has said that the previous governments only worked on production of electricity but not on transmission system.

Addressing a press conference along with Minister for Energy Omar Ayub Khan, Shibli Faraz said that the previous government didn’t do any work to improve the power transmission system. "The current transmission system is not fully capable of delivering electricity to homes," he added.

The minister said that many countries face difficulties due to lack of advanced electricity transmission system. He said that power sector is the backbone of the country. "Our government is paying special attention to the power transmission system," he added.

"The current government is taking steps for upgradation of transmission system for better supply of the electricity, he maintained. He further said that a comprehensive plan is being pursued to upgrade transmission system and to enhance power generation.
