ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has hinted at increasing the prices of the POL products, saying that the deficit will further enhance if the petroleum prices were not increased.
Addressing the nation on Wednesday, he said that the petrol price was lowest in the countries importing oil. "The oil prices have increased by 100 percent across the world during the last four months. But they rose in Pakistan by 37 percent," he added.
The prime minister said that the inflation at the international level had increased by 50 percent, but it rose by nine percent in Pakistan.
He announced a 30 percent subsidy on ghee, flour and lentils. "The subsidy on these items at shops is only for six months. We are bringing a relief package for 20 million families," he maintained.
PM Imran Khan said that loans up to 500,000 would be given to farmers and citizens. "We are also bringing a programme to give interest-free loan to four million families. We were improving the economic conditions in the country, but the situation worsened due to the Covid-19 pandemic," he maintained.
