Prime Minister Imran Khan nominates Mirza Afridi for slot of Senate deputy chairman

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has nominated Mirza Afridi for the slot of Senate deputy chairman on Thursday.

He was briefed about numbers game for the election of the Senate chairmanship. The meeting also discussed expected names for the slot of the Senate deputy chairmanship.

Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and federal ministers also attended the dinner. 

Mirza Afridi of the PTI was being considered to be hot favourite for the slot. In addition, Faisal Javed, Ijaz Chaudhary and Waleed Iqbal were also among the contenders.

Sadiq Sanjrani, a candidate of the PTI and allies, and PDM candidate Yousaf Raza Gillani will vie for the slot of the Senate chairman.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the PTI Core Committee has been summoned to hold consultation on the election of the Senate chairman and deputy chairman. The candidate for the deputy chairmanship will be finalized during the meeting.
