Progressive Lovers, Journalist Group alliance wins LPC election

LAHORE (92 News) – The candidates nominated by the Progressive Lovers and Journalist Group alliance made a clean sweep in the Lahore Press Club election on Sunday. Muhammad Arshad Ansari of the Progressive Lovers and Journalist Group alliance was elected the president with 1,246 votes. His rival Shahbaz Mian of the Progressive Group secured 804 votes. Zulfiqar Mehto was elected senior vice-president with 1,292 votes, while his rival Muhammad Rehman Bhutta secured 703 votes. Nasira Attique of Progressive Lovers and Journalist Group won the seat of vice-president with 1,133 votes. Jawad Rizvi of Progressive Group got 841 votes. Zahid Abid of Progressive Group was elected secretary with 884 votes. Journalist Group’s Shahzad Butt got 762 votes. Shadab Riaz and Shafiq Awan got 237 and 117 votes respectively. Seventy-five votes were rejected. Hafiz Faiz Ahmed of Progressive Lovers and Journalist Group won the seat of joint secretary with 1,107 votes. Naveed Alam of Progressive Group could secure 859 votes. Salik Hussain of Progressive Lovers and Journalist Group got 1,053 votes to win the slot of treasurer, while his rival Zaheed Ahmed Babar of Progressive Group secured 977 votes. The governor body members with their votes are: Imran Sheikh (902), Ahmed Raza (875), Muhammad Shahid Chaudhry (797), Rana Tahir (763), Hassan Taimur Jakhaar (728), Muhammad Hasnain Chaudhry (709), Gul Nawaz Ahmed (704), Qasim Raza (699) and Fatima Mukhtar Bhatti (688).
