Prohibition for sale of malaria drug chloroquine without prescription

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The federal government has issued advisory regarding chloroquine as prohibition for sale of malaria drug chloroquine without prescription. Addressing a press conference, Special Assistant on National Health Dr Zafar Mirza has said that a group of health experts have been given the task to issue advisory on the use of Chloroquine for coronavirus treatment. He said details for the use of Chloroquine medicine will be available to our health departments after being discussed at national level. Dr Zafar said sufficient stock of Chloroquine is available in the country and there is complete ban on its export. “We are planning to arrange a crash course for the training of doctors for treatment of the pandemic coronavirus,” he added. He said total number of confirmed coronavirus patients in Pakistan is 646. Special Assistant on Health appealed to the public to adopt preventive measures in collective war against the pandemic. The number of novel coronavirus cases has risen to 646 across Pakistan. According to the latest statistics released by the government, 292 cases of coronavirus were reported from Sindh, 152 from Punjab, 104 from Balochistan, 31 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11 from Islamabad, 55 from Gilgit-Baltistan and one case of coronavirus was reported from Azad Kashmir. Meanwhile, three deaths were reported from the coronavirus and five patients have been discharged from hospitals after complete recovery. Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on late Saturday night confirmed 15 new Covid-19 cases in Punjab, taking the provincial total to 152. Out of the total, 120 cases were detected in pilgrims from Iran, 21 in Lahore, one each in Multan and Rawalpindi, three Gujrat, two Jhelum and four in Gujranwala.
