KARACHI (92 News) – The police baton charged and tear gassed the sugarcane growers when they tried to march towards Bilawal House on Monday. The growers were protesting against the mill owners for not giving them the government-fixed rates Boot Basin Chowrangi area. The demanded an end to economic murder of the growers. He said that the mill owners should be forced to pay them the fixed price of Rs 182 per maund. The police also used water cannons to disperse the protesters. Sindh Agriculture Minister Anwar Sial said that the sugarcane rate pertains to the federal government. Later, 98 arrested people were released on the order of the minister.
