PS-88 by-polls: Haleem Adil Sheikh shifted to Special Investigation Unit

KARACHI (92 News) – Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly, Haleem Adil Sheikh, has been taken into custody by police for violating the orders of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) amid the voting process during PS-88 by-polls on Tuesday.

According to the reports, police personnel have managed to detain Haleem Adil Sheikh despite resistance from PTI workers over refusal to obey the ECP orders.

It is pertinent to mention here that the ECP ordered Haleem Adil Sheikh to leave the PS-88 constituency over violating the law.

On the other hand, the opposition leader in Sindh Assembly alleged the PPP that shots were fired at his vehicle in presence of police during a visit to PS-88 polling station. Police has maintained that Haleem Adil’s claim of firing at his vehicle will be investigated.

Voting for by-elections in PS-88 is underway and at least 108 polling stations have been set up in the constituency out of which 36 have been declared sensitive and 33 have been declared most sensitive.

Harsh words have also been exchanged between PTI candidate and polling agent over violation of code of conduct in PS-88 Malir.

According to ECP’s election code of conduct, public office holders could not visit polling stations, whereas, the politician was consistently visiting different polling stations since 8:00 am today.

The spokesperson added that Sheikh was involved in the violation of the election code of conduct, whereas, police and staff of other polling stations were informed about the situation.
