PSX witnesses bearish trend, loses 1,721 points

ISLAMABAD (APP) - The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) turned around to bearish trend on Friday, losing 1,721.97 points, a negative change of 2.10 percent, closing at 80,117.89 points against 81,839.86 points on the last working day.

A total of 479,000,434 shares were traded during the day as compared to 470,310,927 shares the previous day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs 27.851 billion against Rs 25.349 billion on the last trading day.

Around 446 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, 91 of them recorded gains and 305 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 50 companies remained unchanged.

Gold rates decrease by Rs3,000 per tola to Rs251,000

The price of per tola of 24 karat gold decreased by Rs3,000 and was sold at Rs251,000 against its sale at Rs254,000 on last trading day. The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also decreased by Rs2,572 to Rs215,192 from Rs217,764 whereas that of 10 gram 22 karat gold went down to Rs197,259 from Rs199,617.

The price of per tola silver decreased by Rs50 to Rs2,850 whereas that of 10 gram silver went down by Rs42.87 to Rs2,443.41. The price of gold in the international market decreased by US$55 to US$2,415 from US$2,470.

Rupee sheds 05 paisa against dollar

Pakistani rupee depreciated by 05 paisa against the US dollar in the interbank trading and closed at Rs 278.12 against the previous day’s closing of Rs 278.17. 

The buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market stood at Rs 279.25 and Rs 280.75 respectively. The price of Euro came down by Rs 2.12 to close at Rs 302.82 against the last day’s closing of Rs 304.94.
