April 6, 2015
KARACHI (92 News) – Several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders accused the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) of forcefully collecting CNICs from residents of Azizabad area on Sunday. The PTI and MQM are aggressively rallying for NA-246 by-polls, holding press conferences -- gaining momentum for the NA-246 by-poll on April 23. Earlier, the PTI came under attack by the MQM workers in Karmiabad area on Friday which escalated to a war of words hurled by both parties’ leadership. Addressing a press conference in the Karimabad area, Imran Ismail termed Friday’s clash between PTI and MQM supporters as "pre-planned" and called it an act of blatant terrorism. Later the next day, unidentified persons wrapped up PTI’s election camp and removed the whole setup from Karimabad area. The NA-246 has been traditionally an MQM stronghold, as it never lost in this constituency. The seat got vacant after Nabil Gabol’s resignation following differences with the party. Gabol was elected from this constituency on MQM’s ticket in 2013 general elections.
