PTI begins long march amid crackdown against workers

PESHAWAR (92 News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) began long march amid blockades and crackdown against party workers across the country.

As per details, the PTI convoy left Head Khanki Barrage for Islamabad, overcoming all blockages. The convoy headed by Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister is heading towards Islamabad.

On the other hand, the federal government has imposed the section 144 in Punjab and Sindh. According to sources, Rangers have also been called in Punjab. Sensitive buildings in Red Zone will be handed over to the Pak Army. Not more than five people can stand near to Red Zone. All routes to Islamabad have been closed.

Police had also conducted raids at the houses of several Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) leaders before long march and arrested several workers. Raids were also conducted in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Gujranwala and other cities. Police reached two times to the house of PTI leader Hammad Azhar on the information of PTI meeting but did not arrest any of the PTI leaders. PTI leader Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed and Ejaz Chaudhry has arrested from Lahore.

It is pertinent to mention here that Imran Khan had called on the workers to reach D-Chowk in Islamabad. He had said that his only demand is a fresh election and he won’t stop until they get the date for an election. “Don’t be afraid of jails. Our future generations would not forgive us if we do not come out today. Our march is not a political movement but a jihad.”
