LAHORE (92 News) – The police arrested the PTI chairman from his residence at Zaman Park after he was convicted in the Toshakhana case on Saturday.

Islamabad Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar sentenced the PTI chairman to three years in prison in addition to a fine of Rs 100,000. He has been disqualified from holding a public office for five years.

The court ruled that the PTI chairman's dishonesty has been established beyond doubt. "He has been found guilty of corrupt practices by hiding the benefits he accrued from national exchequer willfully and intentionally," he ruled.

After his arrest, he was shifted to the Attock jail by Motorway from Lahore. Two boards have been formed to conduct the medical examination of the PTI chairman.

AFP adds: PTI lawyers said they were filing multiple appeals to try and overturn the PTI chairman's conviction and secure his release.

"This is a very regrettable decision that was made in haste. Justice was not provided to us and the right of defence was not given," said Gohar Khan, a member of his legal team.
