PTI challenges Kh Asif’s victory from NA-73

SIALKOT (92 News) – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has challenged the victory of PML-N leader Khawaja Asif from NA-73. PTI candidate Usman Dar has submitted an application to the election tribunal, stating that Kh Asif had concealed his assets in the nomination papers. He also contended that his rival had also submitted an unattested affidavit. Usman Dar also stated that the ECP staff failed to execute the Election Act 2017 and ballot boxes from 53 polling stations were submitted the next day. The petitioner requested Asif’s win to be annulled. Saturday was the last date for submission of election-related petitions before election tribunals against the results of the 2018 general elections. According to the Elections Act 2017, a time period of 120 days has been fixed to conclude the proceedings on election-related disputes. Election tribunals comprise of high court judges. Election-related petitions need to be submitted with pertinent tribunals across every province. Any petition sent to the commission secretariat in Islamabad will not be entertained.
