PTI emerges winner in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa District Nazim elections

PESHAWAR (92 News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has emerged winner in District Council Peshawar and Three Town Councils in the local bodies elections on Sunday. The PTI’s Arbab Muhammad Asim has been elected District Council Nazim Peshawar while Syed Qasim Ali Shah won election for Naib Nazim. The party workers celebrated the success of Muhammad Asim. Talking to media after taking oath, the newly-elected Peshawar Nazim termed the victory as people’s victory. The PTI has won seats in province’s nine districts, while, PML-N and tripartite alliance candidates has won in Peshawar’s Town-Four. The PTI candidates Attaur Rehman from Battgram, Mustafa Kundi from Tank, Dr Umer Daraz from Kirk, Adil Islam from Haripur, Liaqat Khattak from Noushera, Azizullah Ali Zai from DI Khan, Fahad Riaz from Charsada and Noor Muhammad from Toorgar won the District Nazim seats. The Jamat-e-Islami has emerged second in the local government elections which won four seats in the District Council elections. The JI candidates Muhammad Rasool Khan from Lower Dir, Sahibzada Faizullah from Uper Dir, Dr Ubaidullah from Buneir and Marafat Shah from Chitral won the District Nazim seats. Meanwhile, the PML-N could only bag three seats from Swat, Mansehra and Shangla, while the JUI-F and ANP could bag only two seats.
