PTI Foreign Funding Case: SC adjourns hearing till tomorrow

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court has on Monday adjourned the hearing of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) foreign funding case until tomorrow. A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Umar Bandiyal and Justice Faisal Arab resumed hearing the case. During the proceedings, Akram Sheikh, the counsel of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has no authority to disqualify PTI chairman Imran Khan for providing fake certificates. Justice Bandial observed that the receipt of prohibited funds has to be established first. The chief justice remarked that the Election Commission of Pakistan is responsible for determining whether the prohibited funds were acquired by the PTI. The chief justice remarked that the court will determine the powers of the ECP to investigate the case. The court later adjourned the hearing till tomorrow.
