RAWALPINDI (92 News) - Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir awarded 14-year sentence each to the PTI founder and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana case on Wednesday.

The court also declared both ineligible for a public office for 10 years. It also fined the PTI founder Rs1.57 billion.

The court announced the short verdict after concluding the hearing in Adiala jail.

During the hearing, the judge asked the PTI founder for recording his statement under the section 342. The PTI founder replied that the statement was in the room as he was summoned to mark the attendance here.

The PTI founder went to take the statement and did not return to courtroom.

Meanwhile, Bushra Bibi also did not appear in court. The verdict was announced in the absence of both accused. After the verdict, Bushra Bibi reached Adiala jail to offer her arrest.

On Tuesday, Official Secret Act Special Court Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain had handed down 10-year sentence each to the PTI founder and vice-president Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case. According to the short verdict, the prosecution had solid evidence and remained successful in proving the crime against the accused.
