PTI founder, wife Bushra Bibi awarded seven-year sentence each in Nikkah during 'Iddat' case

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Judicial Magistrate Qudratullah awarded seven-year each sentence to PTI founder and his wife Bushra Bibi in the case pertaining to their nikkah during 'Iddat', declaring their nikkah against Sharia.

The court also fined both of them Rs500,000 each. Both were present in court at Adiala Jail when the verdict was announced.

According to the verdict announced after a two-hour delay, Bushra Bibi's former husband Khawar Maneka has successfully proved the case.

On Friday, the hearing continued for 14 hours. The PTI counsels cross-examined the witnesses. The PTI founder and his wife Bushra Bibi recorded their statement under the section 342. In her statement, Bushra Bibi had declared the divorce document issued on November 14, 2017.

She said that Khawar Maneka had divorced her thrice verbally in April 2017. "I spend my Iddat period from April to August 2017 in my mother's house. I shifted to my mother's house in August 2017. I solemnized the nikkah with the PTI founder on January 1, 2018," she stated.
