LAHORE (92 News) – The accountability court extended the physical remand of PTI leader Aleem Khan in the assets beyond known sources of income case till March 5. A large number of PTI workers gathered there and chanted slogans in favor of Aleem Khan. The NAB prosecutor said that Aleem Khan had made assets in the country and abroad while holding the public office. “Aleem Khan is concealing the real price of his land and sources and a letter has been sent to the Lahore deputy commissioner in this regard,” he maintained. He told court that Aleem Khan had informed the NAB about his offshore companies. According to the NAB report obtained by 92 News, the NAB has traced the properties purchased and sold by Aleem Khan in Dubai. Aleem Khan had purchased and sold over a dozen properties during 2016-17, but did not show them in his assets. According to the report, Aleem Khan got benefit of Rs 140 million from the FBR’s amnesty scheme. Stringent security arrangements had been made during the hearing of Aleem Khan. On February 15, the court had remanded Aleem Khan in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for 10 days. Aleem Khan’s counsel stated that the NAB is distorting the facts. “Aleem Khan has provided all details to the NAB which is deliberately using different tactics,” he said. The court questioned the NAB prosecutor about the investigation conducted during the nine-day remand of Aleem Khan. The NAB prosecutor told court that 31 witnesses were called and only seven witnesses appeared before them. He alleged that Aleem Khan was not cooperating with them. The NAB prosecutor said that Aleem Khan was the secretary cooperative in 2000 and later remained an MPA and a minister from 2003-2007. “During this period, the accused purchased 900 kanals of land and mad offshore companies in London and Dubai. A company in London was made for 300,000 pounds, but it was not disclosed,” he said.
