LAHORE (92 News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) have on Monday challenged the Local Government Amendment Ordinance in Lahore High Court.

The PTI’s Ishaq Khakwani and PML-Q’s Kamil Ali Agha submitted petitions in Lahore High Court (LHC) in which the petitioner said that conducting secretive voting for the election of Mayor is a violation of constitution.

Advocate Mubeen Qazi raised a legal point that according to the constitution not a single independent candidate could be forced to join a political party.

The PTI and PML-Q accused the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of violating the law that is why the Local Government Amendment Ordinance should be declared null and void.
