PTI presents supplementary budget amid uproar in Punjab Assembly

LAHORE (92 News) – An uproar by the opposition members badly disturbed the budget session in the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday. The opposition members besieged the dais and tore the budget copies. They also scuffled with the treasury benches. The PML-N members also tried to stop the proceedings of the session. Later, the opposition members also staged protest at the stairs of the assembly. They also chanted slogans against the government. Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Jawan Bakhat presented the Rs20.026 trillion budget. An amount of Rs 373 billion has been allocated for the education sector and Rs 438 billion for the local government. The minister said that an additional sum of Rs 28 billion has been allocated for education as compared to previous budget. Punjab Information Minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan said that the corrupt will be held accountable at all costs. Before the session, PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz said that the defeat in the by-elections shows distrust in the government.
