PTI rejects ethics committee of National Assembly

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has on Tuesday rejected the Ethics Committee of the National Assembly formed to probe into the allegations of former PTI leader and Member National Assembly (MNA) Ayesha Wazir Gullalai. PTI leader Sheerin Mazaari wrote a letter to National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq and made it clear that they do not expect justice from a committee comprising their political opponents. She stated that such a biased committee will become a tool for victimizing political opponents in the future also and will also set a bad parliamentary precedent. However, the PTI stands by its commitment for a credible and neutral inquiry. The PTI leader further stated that in the tradition of the "mother of all parliaments", the British Parliament, our Parliament appoint an independent Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards Office. In the UK, the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards is appointed by a Resolution of the House of Commons fees fixed tease of 5 years and is an independent officer of the House.
