ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday withdrew a reference against CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja after a few hours after being sent to the Supreme Judicial Commission.

The reference was withdrawn after it reached the Registrar Office. According to sources, the reference would be re-submitted after including the points regarding allegedly changing the verdict of the prohibited funding case.

In the reference, it had been stated that the CEC is deliberately doing mismanagement and not performing his constitutional responsibilities in a proper way and hence he should be removed from his office.

Alluding to a meeting between the CEC and the ruling alliance, it said that the CED was pressurized to announce the prohibited funding case at the earliest.

The reference also stated that the PTI was directly affected by the decisions of the CEC. It contended that the prohibited funding case verdict was based on dishonesty.

"The CEC benefitted the PML-N by disqualifying Faisal Vawda for life. The CEC's refusal in the SC to hold the general elections before November is unconstitutional. He has been found guilty of misconduct and should be removed from his office," he added.
