PTI to shut capital on Nov 2
October 17, 2016
ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has announced to close the federal capital on November 2. "We have decided that Islamabad lockdown will begin from 2pm on November 2. Our protest will remain peaceful if the government would let us," Imran Khan said while addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Monday. "Our movement is for democracy. A peaceful protest is our democratic right. We have been waiting for investigation into Panama scandal for six months but our justice institutions always find excuses to avoid an action against the corrupt," he added. He further said that we have seen the attitude of all the institutions and National Assembly speaker. The speaker should have remained unbiased. "This is a decisive moment, it would decide about the future. One way is of destruction while other is of change. The prime minister should either resign or present himself for accountability. We will continue to stage a sit-in in Islamabad until they resign or present themselves for accountability," Imran said. The money was transferred abroad through money laundering. One culprit has become the prime minister of the country and is playing with democracy. The development can be seen only in Sharif family. They constructed a sugar mill where there was no permission. They built a mill illegally, he said. The PTI chairman said, "We have monarchy instead of democracy. Will we continue to serve this corrupt mafia?" Imran went on to say that this is not the same party they baton charged in 2013. Our party workers are ready. We tried to unite all the parties but unfortunately, the parties do not have a sense of struggle again corruption. Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari are being seen on a single platform, he said. “This is about time everyone should stand against corruption. The people of Islamabad would have to face trouble. They would have to sacrifice to save the country. We cannot get freedom from this corrupt mafia without rendering sacrifices,” he added.
