PTI’s eight month rocked by high-profile departures

LAHORE (92 News) – The slogan of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), ‘Tabdeeli’ [change], has become limited for only the change of federal ministers and Punjab inspector of general police (IGP) during its rule of eight month. During the eight months in of the PTI-led government, six federal and provincial ministers among advisers have been removed. Meanwhile, opener batsman of Kaptan Asad Umar resigned after the eight month of government. He was being trolled and criticized continuously due to the economic crisis and inflation in the country. In the federal cabinet of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the first resignation tendered by Babar Awan as adviser to the prime minister on parliamentary affairs. He resigned from his office in 2018 when the corruption reference of Nandipur Project was filed against him. After row with the poor family, Azam Swati forced to leave portfolio of minister for science and technology when the matter reached into the Supreme Court in 2018. Prime minister’s close aide Aleem Khan also resigned from his post as Punjab minister of local government & community when he was arrested by the National Accountability Court (NAB) in assets beyond known source of income. After giving the statement against minority, Fayazul Hassan Chohan was sacked form his portfolio as Punjab information and culture minister. Due to the political interference, the PTI appointed Nasir Khan Durrani as chairman of the Commission on Police Reforms and Implementation in Punjab but he quit the designation after a short period. The incumbent government has changed three IGP’s of Punjab during its tenure of eight month. On the one side, the ministers were being ousted but on the other hand inflation and disastrous economic situation of the country is creating difficulties for the general public. It is pertinent to mention here that some firings and resignations were casualties of a shaky new government. High-level people including some of them forced out and who walked out on their own.

Forced-out:

Minister for Finance Asad Umar, Economic Advisory Council (EAC) Atif Mian, IGP Punjab Mohammad Tahir, IGP Amjad Saleemi, Pakpattan District Police Officer (DPO) Rizwan Gondal, , Managing Director Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL)Amjad Lateef, Managing Director Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC)Amin Rajput, Chairman Pakistan Steel Mills Engineer M A Jabba and Managing Director Pakistan Television (PTV)Arshad Khan were forced to leave their posts.

Resignations

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi, Prime Minister’s special assistant on foreign investment Sahibzada Amir Jahangir, EAC Dr Imran Rasul and Asim Ijaz Khawaja members, Gilgit-Baltistan governor Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan and IGP Jan Muhammad were tendred resignation.
