LAHORE (92 News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) nominee Sardar Usman Ahmad Buzdaar has been elected the new Punjab chief minister. He secured 186 votes while his rival Hamza Shahbaz Sharif of the Pakistan Muslim League-N got 159 votes. The electoral process was held at Punjab Assembly in Lahore on Sunday, on the basis of Division of House. Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi chaired the session. On Saturday, the report revealed that PTI’s nominee for the Punjab chief minister paid blood money to resolve the murder case against him. A background check revealed that the Usman Buzdar was accused of murder case. It was reported that a case of six murder was registered against the PTI candidate in 1998. The newly-elected PTI leader paid ‘diyat’ (blood money) worth Rs7.5 million to reach compromise with the victims’ heirs after a court found him and his companions guilty in January 2000. On other hand, It revealed that Sardar Buzdar is also facing corruption allegations for allegedly making 300 bogus appointments during his tenure as nazim, one of which is reportedly under investigation of National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Usman Buzdar in hot water after shocking revelations Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan nominated Sardar Usman Buzdar as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate for the Punjab chief minister. He garnered 26,897 votes from PP-286 Taunsa Sharif and defeated independent candidate Khawaja Muhammad Nizamul Mehmood. Buzdar remained a member of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) from 2002-2008 and later switched to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). In 2013, he contested the election from PML-N ticket but lost to Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) candidate. In Musharraf era, he remained district Nazim of Taunsa. His father Fatah Muhamnmad Buzdar is a chief of Buzdar tribe and was elected thrice as Member of National Assembly (MNA).
