PTI’s Zeeshan Khanzada elected senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Zeeshan Khanzada of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was elected senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He bagged 104 votes, while his rival Farzand Ali of the joint opposition got 31 votes. As many as 139 MPAs, out of total 139, cast their votes were rejected. Four votes were rejected. The polling continued from 9am to 4pm without any break. The opposition parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly had decided to support PPP-nominee Farzand Ali Khan against Zeeshan Khanzada for a vacant seat of Senate. The ANP had nominated former provincial minister Haji Hidayatullah Khan for the seat but he announced to retire in facvour of Farzand following a jirga of the PPP. A delegation of the PPP led by its provincial president Humayun Khan had visited the ANP secretariat to seek support of the party. PPP provincial general secretary Faisal Karim Kundi, Sher Azam Khan Wazir and Farzand Ali Khan were part of the delegation. The ANP leaders included provincial general secretary Sardar Hussain Babak, Haji Hidayatullah Khan, Sadruddin Marwat, Mukhtiar Khan and others.
