Public hearing in Nepra against loadshedding in Karachi completed

KARACHI (92 News) – The public hearing in National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on complaints against loadshedding and over billing in Karachi has been completed on Friday. The Nepra heard the issue of prolonged electricity loadshedding. The Nepra chairman assured that he would take a decision after reviewing all the facts and suggestions. He also hinted at abolishing pack and off-pack tariffs till the end of loadshedding. He also sought other details including distribution and production of K-Electric. During the hearing, K-Electric CEO Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi has told that work is being done on power transmission system. “30 to 40 feeders are shut due to the restoration process,” he added. The Nepra chairman has directed K-Electric to submit summary of the steps taken to improve electricity system in the metropolis. “We can help you in getting more power supply from federal government but you don’t have proper transmission structure,” he maintained. The K-Electric CEO said that the responsibility of ineffective transmission system in Karachi should be put on federation.
