Public interest won’t be ignored in new agreement with K-Electric, says Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif has said the new agreement with K-Electric will be made in the best interest of the people of Karachi. Speaking on the flour of the National Assembly on Thursday, Khawaja Asif said that Sindh government was responsible for the deaths. “Around 70 percent workers have died in Karachi and Provincial government failed to give basic medical facilities,” he said. The minister termed the deaths due to heatwave in Karachi as a big tragedy. “Where the dead would be buried, if houses would be built on graveyards thorugh China-cutting,” he said. Khawaja Asif said the federal government is ready to cooperate with the provincial government with all its resources. While once again claiming to end loadshedding in three years, Khawaja Asif said that they will inform the masses about the LNG agreement with Qatar. The minister said that National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) officials have reached Karachi to investigate the power outages in country’s economic hub. Khawaja Asif said that those who were not paying their bills have been causing a loss to the country. “Electricity generated through LNG will be much cheap,” he added. He claimed that the government produced electricity worth Rs 4 billion from the Nandipur Power Project.
