Punjab Assembly session to elect new chief minister adjourned till tomorrow

LAHORE (92 News) - The Punjab Assembly session to elect the new chief minister was adjourned till 11:30am on Sunday.

The Assembly secretary said that the nomination papers can be received by 5pm today, while the scrutiny of the papers will be held at 6pm. He said that the new chief minister will be elected through division.

On Saturday, the process to elect the new chief minister was to be started in today's session. A large number of members was present in the assembly.

The treasury benches the slogans of 'shame, shame' and 'cherry blossom'. The female MPAs raised the slogans of 'Go Niazi, go'.

Former chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar was also present in the assembly. Speaking on the occasion, Buzdar said that they will get Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi elected by a heavy margin.

Meanwhile, Sardar Usman Buzdar held a meeting with Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi. Both agreed to devise a strategy with consultation. Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood also held a meeting with Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi and discussed the matters pertaining to the election of the chief minister.
