Punjab budget for FY2017-18 presented, govt employees get 10pc pay raise

LAHORE (92 News) – The Punjab government presented the Rs 1,937 billion budget for the new fiscal year 2017-18 on Friday.

Presenting the budget, Punjab Finance Minister Ayesha Ghaus Pasha announced a 10 percent increase in the salaries of the government employees.

The government has imposed a 5percent tax on the gift property.

An amount of Rs 635 billion has been allocated for the Development Program, while Rs 93 billion has been reserved for the Orange Line project.

A sum of Rs 20.50 billion has been allocated for the Higher Education Commission.

On the other hand, the opposition members wearing black armbands attended the budget session and resorted to hooliganism. They continued to thump desks throughout the budget speech.

The treasury encouraged the finance minister saying ‘Well, well’.
