LAHORE (92 News) – The Punjab cabinet has declared a medical emergency across the province due to fears of spread of coronavirus on Thursday. Talking to the media, Punjab Minister for Health Dr Yasmin Rashid said that screening and vigilance had been increased at five airports. She said that three hospitals are ready to deal with coronavirus. “Steps, including closure of schools and ban on gatherings, will be announced on time,” she said. Dr Yasmin Rashid said that so far 20 cases of coronavirus had been detected in the country. “The reason behind an increase in the death rate in developed countries is that they took steps lately,” she said. She said that it was mandatory in the medical emergency that the prescribed directions should be followed. “It is easy to overcome the epidemic in the wake of minimum movement,” she said. The minister said that hospitals had been put on alert. “But the people will have to take the medical emergency seriously,” she added.
