Punjab CM approves recruitment of 10,000 police constables

LAHORE (92 News) – Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar on Friday approved the recruitment of 10,000 constables in Punjab police. Chairing a meeting in Lahore, CM Buzdar has ordered to recruit 10,000 police officers on the merit base. He ordered to immediately fill vacant posts The Punjab chief minister directed to hire 5000 police constables this year, while the remaining 5000 posts will be filled in the next fiscal year. He earlier ordered to purchase 500 more police mobiles on an immediate basis, adding that around 318 police vans would be purchased this year with a cost of Rs1.2 billion. On the occasion, Usman Buzdar said that the government will take further steps to remove the deficiency of police personnel. “The government will take measures to make police stations public-friendly across Punjab,” he added. The Punjab CM also paid tribute to Punjab police for playing role to effective preventive measures over coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. On the other hand, the death toll increased to 135 after 11 more deaths were reported during the last 24 hours. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the number of total patients soared to 7,025 with 497 new cases across the country within 24 hours on Thursday. Punjab tops the patients tally with 3,276 cases followed by Sindh with 2,008. There are 154 patients in Islamabad, 933 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 303 in Balochistan, 46 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 245 in Gilgit-Baltistan. In total, 1,765 patients have recovered so far. Of them, the condition of 46 is stated to be critical. The number of tests conducted so far is 84,704 with 6,264 done during the last 24 hours.
