Punjab CM Usman Buzdar lays foundation stone of Local Government Academy

LAHORE (92 News) – Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar laid the foundation stone the Local Government Academy on Tuesday. The Local Government Academy will be established in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank. Addressing the ceremony, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that the Local Government Department will be upgraded as per requirements of the modern age. He said that the purpose of Local Government Academy is to strengthen the local system. “The establishment of Local Government Academy is a laudable act. Public representatives and Local Government officials will be imparted training according to the modern age,” he said. The chief minister was briefed that the academy would be established at a cost of Rs1.8638 billion in 18 months. The building will comprise of two basements and four floors, a hostel, a library and spacious parking. The academic block will have classrooms, syndicate room, a seminar hall, an auditorium and a laboratory for 800 people. The hostel will have the capacity to accommodate 55 people. Moreover, modern facilities will be available for research. Punjab Minister for Colonies Fayyazul Hassan Chohan, the chief secretary, Planning and Development chairman, Local Government secretary, Local Government special secretary, information secretary and Local Government DG were also present.
