Punjab government decides to provide financial aid to the families of those killed in Murree tragedy

MURREE (92 News) – The Punjab government has decided to provide financial aid to the families of those tourists who died in Murree tragedy.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar took an aerial view of different rain and snowfall affected areas and reviewed relief and rescue activities in Murree. The Relief Commissioner and Senior Member Board of Revenue briefed the chief minister on the relief and rescue operation. Punjab Minister for Law Muhammad Basharat Raja, Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information and Special Initiatives Hassan Khawar, Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Punjab Police and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Chairing a high-level meeting at Gharial in Murree, Punjab  Chief Minister  Usman Buzdar has announced to form a seven-member committee for an  inquiry into the tragic incident of Murree. “A committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Punjab will submit its report in seven days. Action will be taken aginst those responsbile for the negligence in light of the inquiry committe's report.”

He announced a compensation of Rs17.6 million for the families of the victims, under which all the 22 people who died in the tragedy will be given Rs 800,000 each.
