Punjab government issues Local Government (Amendment) Ordinance; LG polls to be held on party basis

LAHORE (92 News) – The Punjab government has issued the Punjab Local Government (Amendment) Ordinance 2015 on Monday. According to the ordinance, the local government polls will be held on party basis. The chairman and vice-chairman will contest the election jointly. Candidates of political parties as well as independent candidates will take part in the election. Every voter will get two ballot papers – one for chairman and vice-chairman while another for the general councilor. Candidates for special seats will be elected directly, while youths, labourers, women and minorities for them. The chairman, vice-chairman and general councilors will elect the special seats candidates.
