Punjab government to recruit DSPs directly through PPSC to change ‘thana’ culture

LAHORE (92 News) – The Punjab government has decided to directly recruit deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) through the Punjab Public Service Commission. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the Police and Home departments in this regard. He has also ordered the Law and Regulation departments to prepare rules and regulation for the recruitment. It is first time in the history of the province that DSPs are being recruited directly. The government’s objective is to change the ‘thana’ culture by recruiting well educated people. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed the resolve that DSPs will be purely recruited on merit.
