Punjab govt announces economic relief package for affected people

LAHORE (92 News) – Punjab Information Minister Fayazul Hassan Chohan on Sunday said that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has announced an economic relief package for the affected people. Chohan said that Punjab government is taking all concrete measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the province. “Provincial government has waived taxes of Rs18 billion and introduced a Rs10 billion package for 2.5 million households, which will receive Rs4000 per month,” he added. The PTI leader also urged people to support Punjab government in fight against coronavirus. He further said that CM has announced to give an allowance, which will be equal to a month’s pay, to doctors, nurses and other medical staff who are performing duties in coronavirus wards. The information minister maintained that government has announced a martyrs package for professionals who lost their lives in fight against coronavirus. on the other hand,  the number of total coronavirus (COVID) cases reached 1,526 across the country till Sunday while 15 people have died till now. According to National Command and Control Authority, the nationwide tally of COVID-19 patients soared past 1,526 with 481 cases in Sindh, 558 in Punjab, 138 in Balochistan, 188 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 116 in Gilgit Baltistan, 43 in Islamabad and two in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. As many as 11 patients are in critical condition, while 28 patients have recovered from the infection. The virus claimed Pakistan’s 15th life on March 29 in Islamabad. On the other hand, 25 patients have fully recovered.
