LAHORE (92 News) - The Punjab government has decided to arrest the all Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leaders who have been nominated in treason case.

In a statement, Punjab Information Minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan said that all PML-N leaders nominated in treason case should be arrested by police.

He also said that Punjab Police have rightly registered a case against PML-N leaders including Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. Police should form teams for immediate arrest of all the accused, he added.

Earlier today, the Punjab Police booked former prime minister Nawaz Shairf and his daughter Maryam Nawaz in a treason case.

The sedition case was registered against Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) quid, vice president and other key leaders in Lahore Shahdara Police Station.

Former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Khawaja Asif, Saad Rafique, Rana Sanaullah, Ahsan Iqbal among many key leaders have been nominated in the first information report (FIR).

According to the FIR, Nawaz Sharif is defaming Pakistan and its institutions under a planned conspiracy.

On the other hand, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) reserved its verdict on the petition for banning Nawaz Sharif's speeches.

An IHC bench reserved the verdict on the maintainability of the writ petition after an initial hearing, which is likely to be pronounced today.

In the petition, the petitioner stated that Nawaz levelled false allegations against state institutions to defame them.

“The speeches made by Nawaz Sharif can not in any way be termed as fair criticism or within the parameters of the fundamental right of freedom of speech. The fundamental right of speech guaranteed by the Constitution is not an absolute right but is subject to reasonable restrictions,” the petitioner contended.

He demanded that the government ban the broadcast of any such speech or statement of Nawaz.

In the petition, the petitioner cited the PML-N quid, opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) chairman and others as respondents.
