LAHORE (92 News) – The Punjab government has announced to hold the local bodies elections in the province on May 15.

During a meeting with Local Government Minister Mian Mahmoodur Rashid on Wednesday, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said: "The provincial government is fully committed to holding the local bodies’ elections. The new Local Government Act would herald the development era in the province. The enforcement of the new Local Government Act would resolve public issues on their doorstep."

He added that direct election would ensure real change in the local bodies’ politics. "The new local government act has been devised with hard work to timely resolve problems through village councils and neighbourhood councils," the CM concluded.
