Punjab govt announces to start ‘Smart Sampling’ from today

LAHORE (92 News) – The Punjab government on Tuesday has announced to start ‘Smart Sampling’ across the province to contain the deadly coronavirus. In a statement, Chief Minister Usman Bazdar has said that the next course of action will be made after reviewing the results of ‘Smart Sampling’. “A committee of experts was also constituted to review the outcomes of ‘Smart Sampling’. Initially, the provincial authorities were focusing on the people present in quarantine centers,” he added. On the other hand, the Punjab chief minister ordered indiscriminate crackdown against hoarders and illegal profiteers. Usman Bazdar also directed Cabinet Committee on Price Control to take strict action against hoarders. He also said that the negligence in availability of goods to people at fixed rates will not be tolerated. Earlier, Usman Buzdar visited Sahiwal, Depalpur and Chishtian to inspect the arrangements for coronavirus patients as well as wheat procurement. The chief minister inaugurated corona emergency department at DHQ Hospital, Sahiwal. Talking to the media, he announced to set up a cardiac centre in Sahiwal as medical facilities for heart patients are not available in DHQ hospital. “A children hospital will also be set up in the district and work will be started in the next financial year. 705 coronavirus patients, out of total 4,111, have recovered in Punjab and the Health Department has been given Rs 14 billion to deal with the pandemic. Rs 620 million is also given to set up the divisional level labs,” he added. The chief minister said that over 830,000 gunny bags have been issued for wheat procurement and Rs 22.75 billion have been distributed under the financial aid programme of the government. “In line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, various facilities are being arranged for the construction sector in Punjab. For this, he disclosed that the stamp act is being amended and approval will be received from Punjab cabinet. Similarly, anti-hoarding ordinance 2020 is being issued and it would also be got approved from the cabinet.”
