Punjab govt declared responsible for increase in smog

LAHORE (92 News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) has on Saturday in its detailed judgment declared Punjab government responsible for increase in smog to dangerous level in the province. The court while ordering the provincial government to implement the action plan on smog, directed it to update the air quality data on website on daily basis. The judgment stated that the Punjab government showed irresponsibility by not taking timely steps against the smog and wasted time in collecting data and analysis of smog. The court further directed the authorities to ensure strict implementation of smog action plan, besides imposing emergency if air pollution level goes beyond 300 AQI (Air Quality Index).
