Punjab govt establishes Coronavirus Emergency Fund

LAHORE (92 News) – The Punjab government has established a ‘Conronavirus Emergency Fund’ to deal with coronavirus. The decision was made during a meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi. According to the decision, all MPAs and officers above BPS-16 would donate their one-month salary to the fund. Addressing a press conference on Friday, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar had said that there are currently 96 coronavirus patient in the province. He said that 1,200 devotees had reached Multan. “The Finance Department has given Rs8 billion. We are going to prepare a field hospital at Expo Centre,” he declared. The chief minister was of the view that 10,000 beds would be available on the short notice of 48 hours. “We are forming a committee to resolve the problems of doctors and staff,” he said. He announced that the government will not leave daily wage employees alone during the difficult times. He appealed to philanthropists to donate to the Chief Minister Emergency Fund. Sardar Usman Buzdar said that work on establishing quarantine centres in hotels in big cities is going on. He ordered the ministers to go to their hometowns and monitor the steps taken to combat the pandemic.
