LAHORE (92 News) - Punjab IGP Dr Usman Anwar has answered to the letter written by Islamia University Bahawalpur Vice-Chancellor Dr Athar Mahboob regarding the drugs and sexual harassment scandal on Monday.

In the letter, the IGP said that action was taken against the staff and students on the report of secret agencies. "During the investigation, it has been revealed that staff and students, male and female, were involved in the dance and drug parties," he added.

The IGP said that teachers, security guards and drivers were also involved in harassing the students. "Teachers have also been harassing the students for awarding better grades," he maintained in the letter.

Meanwhile, IUB Chief Security Officer Ijaz Shah has been shifted to jail. Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi has taken notice of the incident and formed a committee to probe into the matter.

On the other hand, IUB VC Dr Athar Mahboob has termed the cases registered against him as fake. "Drug cases have registered against the officers through honey trap," he added.

He said that the police could not bring the evidence or witnesses to prove the levelled allegations. "Now the police are withdrawing from their allegations. An conspiracy has been hatched to stop progress of the university," he added.
