LAHORE (92 News) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the "Aghosh" programme, an initiative designed to provide financial support and medical care to pregnant women and mothers of children under two.
Speaking at the launch of the programme, CM Maryam Nawaz highlighted that the "Aghosh" programme, offering Rs23,000 in financial aid across 13 Punjab districts, reflects the government's commitment to improving maternal and child health, particularly in underprivileged and remote areas.
This support will be provided through various stages of pregnancy, childbirth, and postnatal care. Pregnant women will receive Rs2,000 upon registration at health centres, with additional financial aid for regular medical checkups and childbirth.
New mothers will receive Rs4,000 after childbirth, Rs2,000 for the newborn's first checkup, Rs5,000 for birth registration, and Rs4,000 for immunisation, with Rs2,000 per vaccination visit.
A toll-free helpline has also been set up to provide guidance and support to women participating in the initiative.
The "Aghosh" programme represents a significant step in ensuring the well-being of mothers and children in Punjab, with a focus on both medical and financial support to improve their health and quality of life.
