Punjab minister announces Rs5 million grant for artists' welfare

LAHORE (92 News) - Caretaker Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Amir Mir has announced a grant of Rs50 million for welfare.

He was addressing the 20th meeting of the Artists Support Fund Committee at Al Hamra Arts Council on Wednesday. He emphasized the significance of supporting artists' welfare alongside promoting art, recognizing their crucial role in maintaining a healthy society. "The Artists Support Fund aims to extend financial aid to deserving artists, with simplified disbursement mechanisms."

He highlighted the Fund's commitment to facilitating needy artists, with adjustments made considering inflation. "The stipend for artists in need has been raised, and the allocation for widows of artists has also been increased."

He directed the Department of Information and Culture Punjab to ensure the efficient distribution of allocated funds for artists during this month.

Information and Culture Secretary Daniyal Gillani, Additional Secretary Culture Tariq Basra, Sohail Waraich, Rashid Mehmood, actress Nisho, and other committee members were also present.
