LAHORE (92 News) – Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered to release about 70 farmers arrested from outside the Lahore Press Club on Wednesday.
The Pakistan Kissan Ittehad (PKI) had sought permission from the Punjab government to hold the convention in Nasir Bagh, which the government declined. At this, the farmers staged a demonstration outside Lahore Press Club.
PKI chairman Chaudhry Anwar was among the arrested farmers.
Earlier, the PKI chairman said that the protesters’ demands are genuine. “We just wanted to hold a peaceful convention in the city,” he said.
The police claimed the protesting farmers were planning to disrupt peace in the city.
