Qadir Patel surrenders to police after fleeing from court; Waseem Akhtar, Qaimkhani held

KARACHI (92 News) – Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) leader Abdul Qadir Patel surrendered to the police after fleeing from the court premises after an anti-terrorism court (ATC) rejected his bail on Tuesday. The anti-terrorism court (ATC) heard the case against former federal minister Dr Asim Hussain for the provision of medical treatment and shelter to terrorists and criminals belonging to various banned outfits. The court rejected the bail pleas of Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) leader Abdul Qadir Patel, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders Waseem Akhtar, Rauf Siddiqui and Pak Sarzameen Party leader Anees Qaimkhani. The decision was taken on the basis of Dr Asim Hussain’s Joint Investigation Team’s (JIT) report. After the court’s decision, PPP leader Abdul Qadir Patel escaped the court premises while Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders Waseem Akhtar, Rauf Siddiqui and Pak Sarzameen Party leader Anees Qaimkhani were arrested.
