ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri said that the successful intending pilgrims would be informed through SMS on Thursday. Talking to the media after the balloting for Hajj applications under the government scheme on Thursday, he said that successful applicants will have to submit their medical certificates to the relevant branch. “Passports will have to be submitted in banks after biometrics from Ittemad centres,” he said. He said that the people could not be selected in the balloting could be able to withdraw amounts from banks. The minister said that they had received less applications due to fears of coronavirus. “People should not spread rumours about coronavirus. Insha Allah, pilgrims will remain safe. We are in contact with the Saudi government with regard to coronavirus,” he said. He said that they would talk to airline companies to benefit the pilgrims after a decrease in the oil price. Noorul Haq Qadri said that there was no Hajj quota for the members of parliament. “People not selected in the balloting for the last three years will perform Hajj without balloting,” he said. According to the Hajj Policy 2020, initially, 179,210 Pakistanis were to perform the sacred religious obligation, including 107,526 under the Government Hajj Scheme and 71,684 through Hajj Group Organisers (HGOs). It is pertinent to mention that a total of 149,330 applications have been received under the government Hajj scheme. Some 10,000 seats under the government scheme have been reserved for senior citizens.
