Quarrels, firing & rigging allegations mar LB polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; women deprived of votes in several areas

PESHAWAR (92 News) – Quarrels, firing incidents and rigging allegations marred the local bodies elections in Khyber Pakhytunkhwa on Saturday. Polling was delayed at several places. A candidate set ablaze a ballot box and polling material in Noshera. Unknown people broke ballot boxes in Karak. On the other hand, the ANP and JUI-F workers quarreled with each other in Charsadda. A skirmish was reported between the ANP and Jamaat-e-Islami workers in Peshawar’s Yakka Toot area. The PPP and PTI workers quarreled with each other in Upper Dir. At several places, women were deprived of votes. Unknown people attacked a polling station in a girls’ school in Peshawar and snatched ballot papers from female staffers. In Bhana Mandi, men forcibly entered a polling station and as a result, polling has to be suspended for some time. Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Pakistan has taken notice of depriving women votes in some areas and ordered to stop the victory notification of the winning candidate.
