Govt, opposition agree to appoint Shehbaz Sharif as PAC chairman
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The government and opposition have agreed to appoint Opposition Leader of the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee. A special sub-committee will be formed to review the audit objections raised by the PML-N. A PTI member will head the sub-committee. Expressing his views in the National Assembly on Thursday, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that it is up to Shehbaz Sharif whether he himself become the PAC chairman or proposes another name. “The prime minister has said that if the opposition is stubborn, the government withdraws its decision,” he declared. The minister said that the mindset of ‘nothing if I am not’ will cause a damage to the country.
