Railway deficit case: SC issues notices to Sh Rasheed, Asad Umar & Kh Saad Rafique

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued notices to Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed, Asad Umar and Khawaja Saad Rafique in the railway deficit case for February 12. The court also issued notices to the Attorney General of Pakistan, the Planning secretary. It asked Railways Sheikh Rasheed and Asad Umar to appear in person. According to the data collected in 2019, Pakistan Railways had spent more than Rs86.2 billion while bringing in only Rs49.6 billion, incurring a deficit of Rs36.6 billion. A staggering Rs57.24 billion or 108 percent of total revenue was spent just on staff salaries and pensions.
